Today I present you with the remedy to all of your Minecraft Lag problems: Optifog(Including Optimine!)
Optifog is an optimization mod that was made by sp614x, who later added Optimine(originally made by Scaevolus, later updated by inio, now maintained by sp614x) to increase performance even further.
I’m not going to go in-depth in what Optifog adds to minecraft(mainly because I don’t know what it all means), but this is directly from the Optifog and Optimine thread:
This mod adds a lot of options for better looks and performance. Doubling the FPS is common.
Moves fog away, adds mipmaps, chunk loading control (mod CAF), Smooth FPS, brightness control, VSync and many other.
While I’m not completely sure what all of that means, I am positive that this is a very effective mod, and is the main reason that I can play Minecraft on my laptop!
In my experience, I have not found any bugs with this mod, probably due to the fact it’s not an interactive mod in that you don’t cause things to happen, therefore without interaction there isn’t much room for bugs. I have tested all features of the mod that come with it and have never experienced any real problems with it.
Installation is as easy as any mod can make it. It has various methods that you can use to install it, including vanilla installation, ModLoader installation, MCPatcher installation, etc.
This mod doesn’t really add much content to the game, it just adds the optimizations. However, it does add the options to turn off animations, to turn off clouds, and other things as well, which is a really nice touch if you want to get rid of some of the annoying parts of Minecraft.
So, as you can see, this mod gets nothing but 10′s from me. It’s done so much good for my Minecraft, I can hardly play without it.
